What it treats

Is it right for you?

  • Uneven skin tone and pigmentation
  • Blemish-prone and congested skin
  • Dull, tired-looking skin
  • Fine lines and rough texture

How it works

What happens

A peel solution is applied to clean skin for a set time, then neutralised or removed. Light peels refresh the surface with little or no visible peeling. Stronger peels work deeper and need more recovery.

To reduce the risk of side effects, your skin is prepared with home skincare for two to four weeks before the first peel.

Who it is not suitable for

  • Pregnancy or breastfeeding
  • Cold sores or skin infection in the area
  • Isotretinoin (Roaccutane) in the last 6 months
  • Sunburn, or a sun holiday planned within two weeks

Side effects

Redness, tightness and flaking are expected after deeper peels. Temporary darkening or lightening of the skin can occur, and is less likely when the skin is prepared beforehand and protected with sunscreen afterwards.

We go through the risks with you at consultation and give you written aftercare.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

Does a peel hurt?

Most people feel tingling or warmth for a few minutes while the peel is on. It settles once the peel is removed.

Will I visibly peel?

With light peels, usually not. With medium-strength peels, expect flaking for three to seven days. We will tell you which to expect before you book.

When can I wear make-up?

Usually the next day. We will give you written aftercare.

Are peels suitable for darker skin?

Yes, with the right peel and preparation. This is one reason the skin assessment comes first.

Do I need sunscreen afterwards?

Yes. Daily SPF 50 protects the new skin and the result.
